Check
out this hilarious web-game called "Bulimic
Showdown". It includes Marilyn Manson as one of the players,
but I like the sight of a bulbous-headed Tori Spelling puking
all over Fiona Apple.
While
you're at it, you should check out the other games
over at ZooAss,
a nicely twisted site. Just how we like it!
And
here's a photo of a friggin cat.

VNV
Nation: Empires and Standing
We are pleased to announce that VNV Nation has found
a home with Metropolis Records. VNV Nation was formed in 1990
in London by artist Ronan Harris. VNV stands for "Victory not
Vengeance" which reflects the bands motto that "one should strive
to achieve, not sit in bitter regret." The act has built
up a strong reputation as one of the best electro bands in Europe
with their previous releases "Advance and Follow" and
"Praise the Fallen." Now VNV Nation has signed with Metropolis
Records for their new release, "Empires". This release
has built up a strong buzz in the club circuit, with VNV Nation's
strong blend of mythology and classical elements in their lyricism
and the relentless and addictive dance beat. Also be on the
lookout for 'Standing' single (MET 170).
The single features the original version of 'Standing',
two brand new remixes of 'Standing', and a previously
unreleased B-Side called Radius. For the collectors,
Metropolis will also be handling a special limited edition version
called "Burning Empires" featuring lots of remixes -
call Metropolis distribution if you are a store ( 610-595-9940
), or Metropolis mail order if you aren't ( 610-595-0429 ).
Look for VNV to tour the US sometime in 2000.
Cleaner:
Solaris
With the departure of vocalist Thorsten Meier, CLEEN is no
more. Long live Cleaner! Cleaner is the new title
for the solo project of Haujobb's Daniel Meyer, who is
now pursuing this project entirely on his own. Together Cleen
and Haujobb have been one of Metropolis Record's top catalog
sellers, with their progressive blend of electro and techno
music. "Solaris" revisits the earlier electro work of
the Haujobb discs such as "Homes and Gardens" and "Freeze
Frame Reality", but brings stronger production and song
writing qualities that Meyer has gained since the debut of Haujobb
in 1993. US version will include the And One and Beborn
Beton remixes found on 'The Voice' import.
Din
Fiv: Escape to Reality
Din Fiv ( pronounced "Din-5" ) is the solo project of
Informatik's Da5id Din. Naming the project after
the connector found on a MIDI cable, Da5id released his debut
disc "Infinity" (MET 021) for Metropolis
in 1996. Infinity was a dark yet danceable release, which was
distinctive for its incorporation of intricate melodic elements.
Magnet magazine wrote of "Infinity"; "What sets this
effort apart front he pack is the occasional insertion of light
yet penetrating melodies, which graft some heart onto the inherently
and abrasive and cold mechanics of the industrial sound."
With "Escape to Reality", Da5id returns to the electro
scene with a release that updates and polishes the edges of
the Din Fiv sound and delves once again into the highly reflective
world view and evocative lyrics of Da5id Din.
Funker
Vogt: Maschine Zeit
Funker Vogt made a huge splash on the European and North
American electro club scene with their 1995 debut, "Thanks
for Nothing" (MET 041). Ever since,
Funker Vogt has been one of the top selling acts in the electro
genre. Combining the intricate synthesizer programming of electro
acts like Front Line Assembly, with the intensity of
an act like Wumpscut, Funker Vogt has carved their own
niche indelibly into the electro scene. Now, following the release
of their new single 'Gunman' (MET 174),
the German duo has released their fifth album for Metropolis.
Picking up where they left off with "Execution Tracks"
(MET 109), Funker Vogt once again has
come through with a strong electro album that is certain to
pack the dance floors. The single features three versions of
the title track and two B-sides that are exclusive to the single.
Leaether
Strip: Carry Me
Leaether Strip is the primary project
of Danish artist Claus Larsen. Leaether Strip is one
of the pioneers of the electro scene, though there has not been
a new release from Claus for several years. 'Carry Me'
is the new single from Leaether Strip, featuring the title track
and no less than 7 additional remixes from other artists ! The
remixes cover a wide range of styles in their reinterpretations
of 'Cover Me', making this single a must have for any
fan of Leaether Strip !

Halo_Gen:
Halo_Gen
Halo_Gen is the new solo project of Don Gordon,
better known as the driving force behind the legendary electro-industrial
act Numb. Though Halo_Gen retains the same dark and foreboding
feel of Numb, there are also new elements that are reminiscent
of intelligent techno such as the Aphex Twin, Reload,
and Autechre. Halo_Gen sounds like the imaginary soundtrack
for a futuristic nightmare, one where the listener is immersed
in the terror and paranoia of a world moving at fast forward.
as Halo_Gen is certain to appeal to adventurous fans of both
dark electro music and to fans of ambient techno.
Mentallo
& The Fixer: Love is
the Law
Mentallo & the Fixer is one of the America's
best known electro-industrial acts. Beginning as an act called
Benestrophe in the 1980's, Gary Dassing and his
brother Dwayne have produced a vast body of work that
has established them a large world-wide cult following. The
Texas based act has produced a number of discs that are fond
classics of electro fans, including "Revelations 23",
"Where Angels Fear to Tread", and "Burnt Beyond Recognition".
After parting company with his brother for the last Mentallo
and the Fixer disc, Gary produced a new Mentallo & the Fixer
disc called "Algorythum" last year. Now after over a
decade of work, Gary has decided that "Love is the Law"
will be his final disc as Mentallo & the Fixer. "Love
is the Law" features the powerful electronic and cryptic
lyrics familiar from their earlier work, and delivers what is
perhaps the band's final statement.
Snog:
Lies Inc./ Dear Valued Customer
Snog is the main project of Australian electronic artist
David Thrussel. Beginning with the widely popular "Corporate
Slave" single in 1991, Snog has been one of the most unique
and uncompromising acts in the electro scene. The prolific David
Thrussel has produced five albums under the Snog brand name,
as well as numerous other discs as Soma and Black
Lung. Always obsessed with a vision of man being tormented
by a hierarchy of capitalism and conspiratorial groups, Snog
has intelligent and subversive qualities that are not seen elsewhere.
Never before available domestically, the first two classic Snog
albums, "Lies Inc." and "Dear Valued Customer"
have now been issued domestically by Metropolis Records as one
double disc. As an added bonus, two extra tracks have been added
to "Lies Inc." to make this release a must for any fan
of Snog.
Crocodile
Shop: ORDER + JOY
Hailed as "the leaders of the American electro-industrial
movement" by Outburn magazine, Crocodile Shop is no stranger
to fans of electro music, with three previous releases with
Metropolis. This northern New Jersey based trio has built up
a rabid fanbase with their frequent live headline appearances
and their support of such well known acts such as Front 242,
Ramstein, Nitzer Ebb, Switchblade Symphony,
and Project Pitchfork. Everything is Dead and Gone,
the last release from Crocodile Shop, proved to be their most
popular release to date, with a prominent feature in Alternative
Press magazine. Following their US tour in support of Everything
is Dead and Gone, Crocodile Shop began writing new material
that was influenced by their view of the local scenes of each
stop on their tour. Order & Joy builds on the strength
of the previous Crocodile Shop releases, but finds the act with
a new sound that is at once harder and more dance oriented,
but without their past flirtations with electronica and drum
& bass. With Order & Joy, Crocodile Shop delivers another
compelling electro release, one with a wry commentary on the
"back to the future" nature of music today.
Kevorkian
Death Cycle: Relax
Relax is the addictive new single from the California
based electro duo, Kevorkian Death Cycle. This single
follows up the band's successful 1999 release, A+O(m),
with remixes that are sure to pack the dancefloor! The single
features 3 versions of "Relax", their cover of the
Frankie Goes to Hollywood classic, and a new version
of the rare song "Kill for Christ" from their out of
print debut
